Hi, thanks for visiting the Mini Makers Studio website!
I’m Aasta, founder of Mini Makers Studio. I am a mum and primary school teacher and have been working with children for 20 years.
As a teacher, I all too often see children ‘copying’ artwork from examples, produced by educators with good intentions. Sometimes examples can be helpful but in many cases children feel the need to replicate.
For children to become agents of their own learning, independent thinkers, we need to allow them to be creative without boundaries.
With this in mind Mini Makers Studio was born.
Children learn when they feel safe and can take risks. You will often find our sessions messy, paint in hair, dye on skin. But what’s a bit of paint on hands, clothes and walls, when children are having fun and learning?
Our sessions aim to encourage children to test, create, question and thrive.
In a sense our sessions really shouldn’t be called classes because the children are not instructed to complete ‘artworks’. Instead, however, they are encouraged to use the tools on hand to create their own unique pieces and experiences.
